6 NATURAL WAYS TO FLAVOR WATER

Water is essential for good health, but lets face it water can be quite bland.But not for long!  Here are some ways to add flavor to your water without added sugars and empty calories.

There are many ways to flavor your water with fruits. You can try fruit infusions, where you put chopped, crushed, or sliced fruits in your water and let flavors meld naturally. You can also try adding a little bit of fruit juices to your water, but make sure you use natural fruit juices . Select ones that have no added sugars.

Make herbal infusions by steeping herbs in hot water for 10-15 minutes. Refrigerate overnight  for cool and lightly flavored drink. Remember, herbs are not just for taste. Depending on what you choose they can bring a myriad of health benefits.  So, mix and match different herbs to your hearts content!

We are cheating here as this is already a well know beverage But hear us out, isn't tea essentially flavored water? A caveat with choosing this method is to be mindful of the caffeine. Moderation is key. That said, this is worth it because of the health benefits associated with tea leaves, such as anti-inflammation, brain function improvement, and stress-relief.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

For those who enjoy some tartness,  try adding a dash apple cider vinegar. Mix in honey, or other  sugar alternatives to bring in some sweetness. Don't overdo this as the acidity of the vinegar can cause gastrointestinal discomfort in some people.

Some of the most commonly used flowers for floral infusions are chamomile, hibiscus, jasmine, lavender, linden,  orange blossom, and rose.  These flowers have amazing health benefits. For instance, chamomile water has calming effects and rosewater has antioxidant properties. To use this method, steep the flower petals in hot water for 15-20 minutes.

You can turn your water into broths or soups by boiling water with herbs, spices, and vegetables. Store-bought broths and soups may have a lot of salt and preservatives in them, so the best way to go is to make them yourself at home. If you like your beverages hot. This is worth a try!
