Milk alternatives are the norm as more people try to avoid dairy, and many suffer from lactose intolerance. One of the many alternatives out there is rice milk.  But is it good? Is this a healthy choice?

Rice milk is one of the most hypoallergenic milk alternative on the market, especially when compared to the nut-based milks like almond and soy.  Have a nut allergy? Rice milk might be a good choice.

It is hypoallergenic


Unsweetened rice milk has 2 grams of fat, which is lower than other milk alternatives.  In comparison, regular milk has 2.4 grams, almond milk has 3.58 grams, and soy milk has 4.35 grams. If you are on a low fat diet, rice milk can be a great choice.

It is low in fat


Brown rice is a good source of vitamin B , supporting good blood circulation, metabolism, and nerve function. If you want to increase your B vitamins naturally consuming rice milk might a low hassle way of doing it.

Rice milk has niacin and vitamin B6. Both compounds known to lower blood cholesterol, reduce congestion and strain on the arteries and blood vessels. Additionally, rice milk naturally contains magnesium, a mineral that promotes stable blood pressure levels.

Rice milk has a lot of antioxidants, such as manganese and selenium, both of which have been linked to the prevention of chronic diseases and the improvement of the immune system.
