Tomatoes are popular in the kitchen and in the beauty industry. But as a juice, how does it stack up nutritionally? Here are the science-backed health benefits of tomato juice.

Out of all the antioxidants, lycopene is the most famous and commonly associated with tomatoes. lycopene is associated with improved heart health and reduction of free radicals.

One medium-sized tomato yields about 20% of the daily recommended dose of vitamin A and 40% of vitamin C.  Vitamin A is good for your eyes and vitamin C is good for your immune system.  Tomatoes are also rich in B vitamins, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus.

Tomatoes play a role in cardiovascular disease protection, thanks to their beta-carotene, gamma-carotene, and lycopene components. These components reduce the levels of LDL cholesterol, the bad cholesterol that can lead to conditions like atherosclerosis.

Tomatoes also play a role in preventing certain types of cancers, such as larynx, lung, oral, pharynx, prostate, and skin cancer.  An animal study conducted reports that tomatoes can prevent cancer-inducing mutations in cells.

Tomatoes are rich in fiber, keeping you full for a longer period of time and preventing you from over-eating.  Tomatoes are a low-calorie foods. One medium-sized tomato contains only about 25 calories.
